Come Train with Us!
Personal Training at Lift Laugh Love PDX looks a little different — and that’s intentional.
We’re building a gym where people can feel comfortable being themselves, move their bodies without judgment, and get stronger in ways that actually work for them.
We’re looking for personal trainers who want to be part of that.
If you’re a thoughtful, adaptable trainer who cares about creating an inclusive and welcoming experience for every client, we’d love to hear from you.
-
Lift Laugh Love PDX is a personal training studio in Portland built around inclusive, accessible, individualized fitness.
We work with people with a wide range of bodies, abilities, experiences, goals, and relationships with exercise. Our clients include LGBTQIA+ folks, neurodivergent people, people living with chronic conditions and disabilities, older adults, people returning to movement after a long break, and people who simply haven't felt at home in traditional gym environments.
We believe fitness should be a place where people feel supported—not judged.
That means our trainers do more than count reps. We listen. We adapt. We communicate. We meet people where they are.
-
As a Personal Trainer at Lift Laugh Love, you'll provide individualized personal training sessions while helping create an environment where clients feel safe, respected, and empowered.
You'll work with clients to:
Build strength, mobility, balance, endurance, and confidence
Develop sustainable movement habits
Adapt exercises to individual needs, abilities, and preferences
Create an environment that is welcoming and affirming
Celebrate progress beyond the number on a scale or the amount of weight lifted
Help clients develop a positive and sustainable relationship with movement
You'll also contribute to the culture of our studio by being a supportive, communicative, and collaborative teammate.
-
Is a good trainer first. You understand exercise programming, movement, safety, and how to coach people effectively—but you also understand that every client is different.
Knows how to adapt. You can modify an exercise, change your approach, or rethink a program based on what a client needs that day.
Is genuinely inclusive. You don't just tolerate differences—you value them. You're comfortable working with people of different identities, abilities, ages, body sizes, and experiences.
Is curious and willing to learn. You don't need to know everything. You do need to be willing to ask questions, seek out information, and continue developing your skills.
Communicates well. You can listen to clients, communicate clearly, receive feedback, and collaborate with other members of the team.
Doesn't take an all-or-nothing approach to fitness. You understand that consistency, quality of life, and sustainable progress matter more than perfection.
Can create a fun environment. We're serious about good training—but we also believe workouts can be enjoyable.

At minimum, we're looking for:
A current nationally recognized personal training certification (e.g., NASM)
Current CPR/AED certification
A commitment to continuing education and professional development

You don't have to be perfect.
You don't have to know everything.
And you definitely don't have to fit the traditional image of what a personal trainer "should" look like.
We care about how you treat people, how you coach, how you communicate, and how willing you are to keep learning.
If that sounds like the kind of training environment you want to be part of, we want to meet you.
